Question 2 up seat recommendations for 09 custom

I put about 300 miles on the bike yesterday and my bony butt was really getting numb.

I don't want to go to a solo seat and I will also be mounting the removable sissy bar
and luggage rack so any seat has to be compatible with that.

Thanks!

There are a lot of options available depending on what your willing to spend. Do you have a price range in mind?

The prices I've seen have run from $50 for a sheepskin cover or gel pad (not
interested in either) or more realistically from @ $200-450 for real seats.

Right now I'm mostly concerned about finding good seats; I'll figure out where
to shop for the best prices later.

A lot of people think the HD Sundowner is very good. I had one and it was comfortable but I'm short and didn't like the fact that it raised the sitting position 1½ - 2". I now have a Drag Specialties Low Profile Wide seat. Not quite as comfortable as the Sundowner but better than stock - plus it sits ½" lower than stock!
I've heard a lot of good things about Mustang seats but have never had one myself.

Shoat; Thanks for the info. The bike's at the dealer now for the 1K service and
they have a couple Sundowners in stock so they're going to mount one up
for me to try tomorrow morning.

Dknew; I haven't found anyone local who has any of the Mustang seats in stock
and I'm really leery of ordering one sight unseen, but I think you're probably
right that it's a great seat.

I guess if I like the Sundowner, I'll just tell them to leave it on the bike and
smoke the credit card a bit more...

Thanks, guys!!

My friend has a Mustang 14.5" on his. Well to put it into perspective for ya, we just did the Redwing 19 IBA run (1036 miles). I had a sore *** for a couple of days and he didn't.

Thanks, AJ.

I'm leery of buying a seat I can't at least take a good look at so I went ahead
and bought a Sundowner from the dealer. They had it in stock and I could try
it on the bike which is in for its 1K service.

The Mustang may be a better seat, but the Sundowner was obviously going to
be a big improvement over stock so I just decided to go for it.

It will sit a bit higher and move me a bit forward, but I think any two-up seat
with better padding is going to do the same. I thought about going with a solo seat
since my wife absolutely will not ride, but I didn't want to throw away the ability
to go two-up.

Thanks for the feedback..

The sundowner is definitely a drastic improvement over the stock seat. It took me a couple of days to get use to the new riding position over the stock seat. I agree that the mustang seats are probably more cool looking than the sundowner, but I'm like you, if i cant see it or touch it up close first, i aint buying it.

Yeah, the sundowner will feel weird at first... Cumfortable, but weird. You get used to it fast, and once for ****s and giggles I put the stocker back on, and it was unbearable right away, so its a huge improvement. Enjoy!
