I have had both seats on my Sporty. Of the 2, I initially found the Sundowner to be the softest and the most comfortable. However, after 4-5 hours in the saddle, I got sore areas (pressure points) along my outer hips. This is caused by the saddle back wrapping too far forward. You wind up sitting on what should be an outer (lateral) support area of the seat. The area of the seat that I had problems with is shown as points A & B in the photo below.

I have since switched to the Mustang Wide Vintage and although it's a firmer seat than the Sundowner, I can stay on it all day without any discomfort.

IMO, if you have wider hips, the Mustang is a better choice.

Thanks, Charley! Those pics are great.

Fortunately, (I guess..) the problem I'm having is because I have a bony *** and
I'll probably be fine with the Sundowner..

I hope so since you already made the purchase. I also don't have much padding on the **** and the seat sides pressing into the bones is what caused my problem with the Sundowner.

Is that Mustang seat the 12.5 or 14.5? I'm looking at getting one. Just not sure how wide to go. Oh, and I have no ***.

I have had the Sundowner, Reach, and just recently I bought the Mustang wide vintage two up one piece. It was kind of an impulse buy, saw it on ebay for $245, didn't think I was going to win since it had days to go but I did. I haven't gone on a long ride on it yet , but initial feel I like it. Sits further back than both the Reach and Sundowner and is much firmer than the Sundowner. Going to take a long ride soon to give it a real test. I have a Reach seat for sale if anyone is interested. Bought it about a month ago.

I have a 2005 883 Custom (104,000 kms) and stock seat wasnt too bad for me but wife complained and couldnt ride more than 2 hours before she was in pain.

Got the HD Sundowner and better for us both. She has gone cross country including some 600 to 700+ km days with no complaints, re the seat at least!

Mustang s/b good also but pricier i think.

I put the Mustang on my bike with the passenger seat option and the driver backrest. I love the backrest.

Seat is quite comfortable.
