I have never had it fall completely oiff, but it pops out all the time. It's a real pain in the *** when it's dark and raining and you have to use your phone to light up the seat attachment screw while you're trying to use a multi tool to take it off. lol

i should'nt brag but after 36,000 miles
no problems
it is the way you rip the dam thing off !!!!!!!!!!!
READ: lift up then out all in one motion and the bottom stays on or tilt out or remove whole thing.
i'am amazed at all this crying over these cover

Even though it is metal, it's worthless after it gets run over by an 18 wheeler.

On the wife's sporty, the plastic bracket that the side cover clips into came out. The top one on the left side of the bike. I could not get it back in even with brute strength. I put a zip tie around the upper frame and through hole in the side cover. Works great. the other option is to drill a small hole in the cover near the top and put a zip tie around ti. Simple and secure. Drill from the inside of the cover and put some tape on the outer painted surface to keep the paint from cracking or chipping. Do it up and post some pics for everyone else.

Mine stays on there great. Must have updated the 09s. They overcompensated though, because I cant get it off to look at the battery without beatin the **** out of the thing.

yeah, tie strip (zip tie) works well ,just routed around frame ,hate for mine to fall off scratch that chrome. was nothing to it hides well.
