Default Noobie needs help with big bore

Well today i did the 883-1200 conversion on my 07 sporty. I have a powercommander and i mapped it and it ran perfect as an 883. Well today i loaded a map for the 1200 into it with V&H pipes and a se intake. I cannot get this thing to run good for the life of me. I won't idle it pops through the intake spits and spudders. So i took some carb cleaner and sprayed the mateing surfaces of the intake manifold and it idled up. I'm assumeing i have a vacuume leak. I took the mani off and put it on 3 times with new gaskets and same thing. Is this normal? Whats my problem? Any help is appreciated. The plugs look lean also.

sounds like you've got an open vacuum line on your carb, or the back of the intake or something.

try spraying some of that carb cleaner around the intake and hoses, if there is a leak, it will idle up. but it sounds like the pc is just not tuned right. maybe call tech support? did you buy it from fuel moto?

oh yeah, sorry about that. didn't realize what year it was. I guess just make sure the carb spray isn't close enough to the intake to be sucked into it. Whatever you're spraying is pulling the fluid in though, there's some kind of leak.

Check out this web site. (harley-performance.com). They have a big article on efi's. It kinda sounds like you have more than one issue there. I'm thinking timing. Or the rings are gonna take a bit to break in and seal. Take out the plugs and clean them up real good so you get a good indication of how they are running. From what I understand the cpu can (learn). Because you have a larger displacement, it may not know what's it's doing yet. It's gotta be something simple, If nothing else, go back to the 883 map then see what happens. I'd like to know as I'm gonna do the same upgrade to my 2007 883 this year. If I find anything I'll let you know. Keep us posted. Get it back in the wind...........HOLLYWOOD

This does sound like an air leak. Be very carefull when putting the intake on and make sure the mateing surfaces are clean and free from burrs. All I can think of.

Ok so i do not have a vacuum leak. I called the stealership and talked to "the man" their and i also called fuel moto and talked to jamie and they both said the same things. The actual ecu needs to be remaped to a 1200 because the 883 ecu map will not work simply but just loading a 1200 map to the powercommander. So from what they tell me they just need to reflash the ecu to a 1200 then i can map it however i want. I just noticed on my powercommander when i hook it up to my pc to change maps it says on my screen that it has an error. Well thats because the 883 ecu cannot take the 1200 maps on the commander. I will get the the dealership this week and keep you guys posted. Thanks for the help
