Default Raced a sportster yesterday(a nightster)

Well it finally happened. I was out with a club brother yesterday breakin in his new toy.(kawi 1100) After a few hours of pleasent riding threw the PA moutains we stopped for some lunch at a roadside bar near Shamokin. As we pull in the lot I notice a nightster. We get inside And the guy that has the nightster and the waitress were the only ones there. Immediatly the nightster guy starts talking with us.(all good) The conversation went right to what are you guys riding. My buddy tells him about his kawi. The guy immediatly stated taking smack about how he used to have a 600 that would of kicked the snot out of my buddies 1100. My buddy just snickered. Then he asks what I'm on and say you must be riding the harley I heard come in. I say, Yep 09' Train. His reply , "Oh a sloptail!" Then go's on to tell me how he was thinking of getting a big twin til he found out that sportsters were the faster bikes. And did better on the mountain roads then the big cruisers like I had.
That was enough for me, I then told him if he liked, when I was done eating, I'd let him beat up on my train and show me how much better his bike was in the twisties.

So about half way threw our meal, the guy gets up and walks outside. We just chuckle alittle figuring he knew he was talking smack. We finished eating and walk outside and sure enough he is sitting there waiting.

So we mount up and roll out, we head south on 125, Nightster in tow. I lay on it immediatly! about 4 miles later we get to a stop sign and No nightster! We waited a minute or so at the stop sign and he never came. I'm guessing he either crashed or turned around after he figured out he wasn't messing with a couple of posers!

Thanks for reading, Thought I'd put this out there after all the threads i've read about sportster guys beating up on big twins.

No offense to sportster owners (I am one), but you had better leave a nightster in the dust on that monster. Stage III with a heavy breather that makes 97 HP. He should have taken one look at it and rode away. Nice subtle sporty bash, however.

Doesn't sound like much of a race Mark.Sounds like only you showed up and not the smack talker. Not talking **** and don' want to start none but a good running Sportster with similar mods like you've done to the TC will get ya.You probably would hate it if a new Buell with a hundred ponies spanked you.G.

Not a sportster bash, at least not IMO. A bash on the rider, maybe. He did start it though.

Just so everyone knows, I rode a nightster for the last 2+ years and loved every minute of it, except when hauling the OL.

Wouldn't hate it at all. I know there is plenty out there faster, but then again, I don't go talking smack to anyone either.

Your right, it wasn't much of a race. The nightster never even made it to the staight road after the stop sign.

Sounds like he got what he was asking for. I will never understand why another rider wants to talk smack on someone's scoot.
BTW Mark g, sweet scoot you got.

Thanks Man.

I think he had a few to many brews with his lunch. We are all motorcyclists

I like stories like that. I would have to say it is the rider of the sporty though. I would have to say though that my wifes nightster whips the snot out of my big twin. But I didn't buy them to race so no big deal. As far as the twisties go my lowrider is much better.
