I just got a set of V&H short shots, pro super tuner, and EFI kit for my nightster (can't wait to install!). The dealer wants to put it on the dyno for 4 hours! We all know that the dyno is expensive, but is it really necessary?
If you are happy with a canned map for your tuner, then you dont need any dyno time. If you want the best that your new mods can provide, a dyno tune is a must. Anywhere from 3-5 hours, depending on who is doing the tune.
Thanks guys. I do plan on getting the dyno - I know that's how I'll get the most out of the tuner. It just seemed like that is a lot of dyno time! I'm getting it done at the dealer I bought the bike from and usually they're pretty reasonable for a harley dealer. jtaylor, did you get the pro super tuner also?
The super tuner is worthless if you dont put it on the dyno. You don't need 4 hrs however. He should be able to get it close to perfect in and around 2 hours. I have the SEST and I took it to my dyno guy and he did it in 1 and 1/2 hrs. Cost me $100. Not perfect, but close enough. Didn't care to squeeze eevery single HP out of it.
no,I got a pc3 I downloaded the map for the vh shortshots and se ac but did not like the way the bike ran, to much decel pop and it missed a lot had it dynotuned and very happy with the way it runs now.
I use to be against Dyno on stage 1 but if a good tuner gets a hold of your bike it well worth the money. I say again a good tuner that knows what they are doing.
Started with a Map on mine ... Let a well known tuner have for a couple hours got another 10-12% Hp and Torque and a little better Gas mileage as well to me was well worth the 200.00 but didn't take him no 4 hours either ... 2 hours tops
