Question side cover

The black plastic side cover just below the seat keeps popping loose.
Seems those clips aren't holding it tight enough when I ride.
Darned cover keeps flopping around.
Luckily, the bottom clamp is holding it, so it won't fall off completely.
Took it to the dealer yesterday and they said if the cover comes completely off and gets lost, it's covered under waranty.
Anyone have the same problem and is there a fix?

Our 2008C cover kept coming off too. Turned out the electical wire for the battery tender was making it so that the clip that is towards the rear of the bike wouldn't 'click' into place. Once we moved that out of the way it snapped into place and hasn't dropped down since.

I had problems with this after I put a battery tender cable on. Seems where I had the cable routed was preventing the cover from seating well. Play around with your wiring and such, it helps to take the seat off and watch it. It's pretty clear when the cover is on properly, you can't easily pull it away with your hands.

I was working under the seat today on my Nightster, trying to properly fit the V@H fuel pack...Everything is incredibly tight...Packed in tight....some stuff had to go under the side cover

The clip is junk...I zipped tied mine with a heavy duty tie

Alot of people ziptied theirs. I just bought new clips and use three now instead of the two and they actually snap in...better and stronger than the original ones the bike came with. They're also black instead of grey. Haven't had a problem since.

The clip is junk. I went to the Harley Dealership and they gave me a newer revision clips and they honored it under warranty. The owner told me that they have been losing money on replacing scratched side covers.
Go to the harley dealership and tell them your cover keeps coming off.. they should have new clips for ya.

Zip tie the cover if you don't want to lose it.
