Default Cleaning those back wheels!

Does anyone have any good methods of cleaning the back wheel spokes of a nightster. I was cleaning her up the other day since its been raining here for nearly two weeks and noticed I was starting to get a little bit of some rust forming on the spokes. I use s100 and it works great on removing rust, but it is so damn difficult to reach the back wheel without taking the wheel off...

i would use mothers or something like that if it's surface rust, but don't rub very hard, just like steel wool, it will put small scratches in the chrome. I'm assuming the spokes are chrome on your nightster? Anyways, when you're done, wax the wheels and spokes, and that will help keep the rust from coming back. If it's more serious rust, you can get a paint pen from a craft store that's silver and at least touch the spot up to make it less noticeable and it will keep the rust from getting worse.

I clean my rear wheel when it's off for a new tire. But then, that's also about how often I wash the bike......

buy a set of wide shoelaces, soak them in Mother's or similar chrome polishing compound, wrap a shoelace around a spoke, and saw back and forth along the length of the spoke. Makes polishing spokes easy. It works much easier with a lift as well...

I like this idea... When you say soak in mothers, you mean just the stuff i use that's like paste in a small can. or are you using a different Mothers product I'm not familiar with?

I have spent about 2-3hrs on my front spokes and they still need a little attention. This sounds like a pretty good idea.

Thanks,
Jason

I use the paste and just slather it on the laces. They will soak up a lot of that paste and you can go for a long time once they are saturated. Then just use the dry one to polish it off...
