Default Smoked Lenses for BRAKE light

i have an 09 nightster. i purchased smoked lenses for the turn signals in front, and it looks great. I also bought some for the rear turn signals, but I realized that in the rear, the turn signals are also the BRAKE lights. Is there a red light that you can put in the rear with smoked lenses that still gives off a safe amount of light? has anyone done this or has everyone left the red lenses on? above all i want to be safe, but id like to find a way to put a powerful red light bulb behind smoked lenses. thanks

While they do look sweet, the rear does need to have the red lenses. You can't see the lights with the smoked lenses. With the way cagers "play" drive, this would not be a good thing.

Yes, you can just drive to the local auto parts store, yank one of your bulbs out, and go find a red replacement bulb.

Something you could also consider, is tinting your stock lenses. There is a spray on tint that is called VHT Nightshades, that more and more people are using on there cars. I drive a mustang also, and it is becoming very popular on those forums for tailights. You can put coats on as light or heavy as you want, so that way you wont get too much on and not be able to see the lights.

Not sure if they make them for Sporties but the HD LED smoked tail light works real well on my Fatboy. The lense is smoked but lights up with full panel of LED when the brakes are on. Many of the HD stealers have a working LED display in the showroom where you can see what they look like on and off. Tried just the KY smoked lense with the red high vis bulb but you could barely see it in the day. HD LED tail light works well with no complaints from friends riding behind me about visibility.

Don't forget to change the blinker fluid when you change out the bulbs.

i was told the higher viscosity blinker fluid will help with the dimness caused by the smoked lenses
