wannabe thanks, crash bar is on the way gonna throw some cheap pegs on it and try that as well. The sporty only had 2800 miles on it also. we are the second owner, the guy before bought it for his wife but she didnt enjoy it and said she would rather ride on the back of his, either way i got a low mile clean bike with a detach shield and luggage rack for 4500 I dont think i did too bad.

The only concern i have with just risers is the angle it will put on the speedo face. Im thinking it'll be at almost 90 deg. and hard to read. Any input on that sporty gurus.

I'll try to send some picks in for you. Get the bars with the holes in them. (for the wire clips). If I remember right, you have to pull some wire out from under the tank to make them reach. Pull the front tank bolt, then prop it up with a small block of wood. Let us know.............HOLLYWOOD

when i bought my '97 sporty it had 8" pull back risers and drag bars. i changed it to 6" risers and bars off a new 883L. the cables fit but i had to splice in about 2" into the wiring. i"m a hair under 5"9" and its a perfect fit. not a quick easy job - the stealer wanted 10 hrs. labor. you can buy extention kits for the wiring but i just cut out the old splices made by whoever installed the drag bars. i found the handleing improved alot with the pullback bars. ride safe-have fun

I made a re-location bracket for my speedo. real simple and looks great took every bit of an hour. 2 flat pieces of metal, half inch wide bent to look like Z drill hole in each end , paint black.

WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back to square one she didnt like either set of bars, I took top of risers off moved factory bar out of the way and mounted both in place, she said the apes were too high and the others were too pulled in feeling. Looks like im going with some pullback risers and see how that goes. Thanks for all the help so far guys!

You will find that you can get away with alot just buy rerouting cables, I put a set of Bad Boy bars on my wifes bike, which are way wider and pull back a lot farther than the stock bars and was able to use all the stock cables just by rerouting.
You need to have your wife sit up straight on the bike close her eyes and put her hands out where they feel good then measure the width and pull back she needs and then start looking for bars there are litrally 100's of choices, so why should she suffer and if she's like my wife she didn't care what they looked like as long as they work.

Yeah your right its really no big deal and your method is excatly how i decided to use just risers she loves the width of her bars theyre just too low for her by about 3". so well try that route first. Besides it gives me just one more reason to shop e-bay!!!!!!!
