I agree that it's unfair that there aren't similar requirements for drivers, but that's life. But, we're part of a very small minority that is over represented in injury statistics. Until the admiral starts showing up to work on a bike, motorcyclists are going to get screwed. At least they don't come down and say you cannot ride PERIOD.

The brass, right or wrong, feels that the best way to keep you around is by making sure you have the skills, education and gear to get you through whatever comes your way. That goes for when you're riding, when you're deployed or when you're training.

Sounds to me like they don't want to recruit your replacement. I certainly appreciate that, as this country needs more folks like you.
Well I won't complain about the courses period. The military pays for it and it is during duty hours. Everything that results from accidents in the military, whether it be death or injuries has to be answered. So they need a solution and education is the solution. As far as car drivers, I know at ft Bragg anyone under 25 years of age has to attend a defensive drivers course as a part of in processing. So I say take the free course that others have to pay for and be happy about it. To tell you the truth, most riders around the area I live in are killed on bikes due to there accord. Speeding, racing and weaving in and out of traffic. Those are mostly sport bike riders, but there are harley riders who have the same behaviors.

No matter how slow I approach the speed bumps in my workplace parking lot, I always end up touching the kick stand pivot point.
Sucks. Hopefully no real damage will come out of it.
