Default Did I make a bad seat choice?

I bought a new mustang vintage solo(12 1/2") and new passenger pillion(8"). this was supposed to be a more comfortable seat than our sundowner. We rode about a 100 miles yesterday and both our butts were begging for mercy. Is there a break in period for this seat or is it just a very firm seat?

Did you require a breakin period for your sundowner? I have the sundowner and it took a little bit getting used to it, over the stock seat, but now i love it.

I've had both the Sundowner & the Mustang Vintage and the Mustang is a much firmer seat. It will soften a bit after awhile but not much, it's made to be a firmer seat. I do however like the Mustang better.

Yes, you made a very very bad seat choice and should sell the seat to me at a very low price just to get it out of your life!

The Mustang takes a little breaking in but its a firm seat. I had one on for about 6k miles and though it got softer it created pressure points on my butt bones from sitting so flat and my wife hated the pillions comfort (lack there of) not to mention it was not overly attractive. I got rid of it and got the Sundowner which is a step down in quality but its a little more comfortable with a more bucketted seat and more lower back support and my wife likes it better. After about 18k miles its comfortable enough but still ugly and I hate the seat hgt/width. so I might opt to try a C&C sport tour eventually or Lepara touring seat.

Give the seat some time and you might like it. Plenty of people rave about it but I'm not one of them.

I bought a mustang solo day tripper thinking it would be more comfortable than the stock solo seat but it wasn't.I ended up selling the mustang and going with the meancitycycle mod on my stock solo seat much happier now .

I went from a Sundowner [not the best looking seat] to a Mustang wide vintage. I love how the Mustang looks but it is a bit firmer. I do think the Sundowner was a little more comfortable, all and all I like the Mustang better. Quality is much better too.

I think most seats need a break in period... In the mean time, if SHE needs her butt massaged..I can probably be available.

600+ miles in the last 3 days, The wife was with for 200+ yesterday.

No complants with the stock seat on our Big Twin.

I had all the different seats on my sportster, I liked the mustang the most. The big problem wasn't the seat, it was the bike.
