Default Am I to big for a Sportster?

Hello to everyone! I've recently been bitten by the bug and I find myself taking double takes at bikes going down the road and can't stop day dreaming about heading down the road on a bike of my own. I've been looking at bikes and of course I have been looking closely at the sportster, pretty much because they are the most affordable, but now I find myself more attracted to them because of there simple streamline look. I was just wondering if anyone thinks I am to big for a sportster. I'm 6'1 230 pounds, let me know what you guys think.

nope, not too big... but if you want to ride two up you may want to get some better suspension

I'd say NO! You'll just have to ride it to find out for yourself but I'm close to your specs and it's way too small for me. BTW.. Welcome to the forum

find a dealer that rents bikes and take one for a test drive and decide for yourself

well..... it all depends on the bike your looking at. my wife bought a 883 custom and I thought it was alot of fun and I could see riding it for a couple hours with no problem. then she decided to trade for an 883 iron. it is a blast to ride but I feel like it is way too small for me. I am 6'5" and 240. my advice is just ride one and see for yourself. I ride an ultraclassic and it fits me perfect right out of the box.

My son who is 6'5" had a 883R until a lady in a Buick Park Avenue turned into it. I have a XR01200 and I am 6'3". It fits me fine.

i'm 6'3" 205 and love my bike, and no i don't look too big for it....sometimes i wish i had 2 more inches on the forward controls but besides that i love it.

whats been said about ridding 2 up and suspension is some really good advice too

I'd say you are fine. I'm not quite as large, at 6'0" 195, but I'm very comfy on my Sporty. I know other folks that are a lot taller that ride Sportsters quiet a few miles each year.

Default 6' 215

I am 6' and 215# (was 245 last year when I got the bike). I got an08 XL883c. It came with the forward controls (they are a must). Try a few before you buy one though.

If you feel cramped try one with forward controls and see if it feels better.

I felt cramped sitting on a sporty with mid controls so I bought forwards, rolled into the price of the bike. They didnt have the forwards in stock so I took delivery of the bike with mids (couldn't wait). Now I'm kinda used to the mid controls and I'm not in a big yank to get the forwards put on even though the parts and labor have been paid for.

Either way, forwards or mids, you are not too small for a Sportster.
