Just wondering what your thoughts were on the bike.

Does it do well in the canyons? Comfortable? Do you regret buying it and wish you got a GSXR?

I like the bike but don't ride fast anymore.

Then why would you even be looking at this bike? Cause if not riding fast anymore is what you are about, stick with your softail.....

Kind of uncalled for Beardo. He's just wondering if the bike is selling well. To be honest, so am I.

I can't justify adding another bike to the "stable," but if I could, that would be the one.

Whats uncalled for? He was asking and so was I. Holy ****, is everyone really that overly sensitive that everything that is said or typed, automatically taken in a negative way? WOW, sorry state of affairs, if thats the case.

And BTW, I love all Harleys, even softails. And to go even further, I love bikes period. Just wanting to clarify before I get nailed to the stake....

So beardo, now that the snit is over, how about giving us a rundown on how you like the bike in your sig. Is it what you expected - better? Have you or are you doing any mods? Impressions? Whatever.

The XR is an interesting bike for an ex Roadster owner.

Didnt realize there was a snit...

The bike is what I expected it to be...a, right out of the box, better in all (performance) ways, sportster.

Test ride one, and you shall see....

Default Xr1200

It is still fun to ride even if you don't ride fast anymore. I ride it to work which is only 4 miles. I open it up every now and then and on sundays and tuesdays (my day off). I will graduate to a dyna later on. I guess I need to get it out of my system. I never had a sport bike.

I LOVE my '09 XR1200! It is by far the highest performing Sportster this side of a Buel. The brakes are the best on any Sportster that I have tried out and are on a par or better than what are on my '06 Buel XB12R Firebolt. The bike handles the twisties with confidence and the suspension is amazing! It has very good acceleration and I had to get used to the fact that my right knee does not have to be sticking out from the bike as there is no extended air cleaner cover in the way. NICE! I currently own a few Norton 850 Comandos and a 750 BMW and I am not really a huge fan of the multi-inline motors so a GSXR is not a big deal to me. I LIKE TWINS and I also like two piston motorcycles too! I have been taking it easy for the break in miles and so I have not gone too far but I have put over 100 miles on it in one day. The seat on the bike has kind of a Buel feel to it and I have put a few 100 miles per day rides on the Buel with no problems at all so I think that the XR1200 will be just fine on an extended ride.

Thumbs up

XLCR4GM,

you're not far from me - we should go out for a ride some time.

When I read IGOTTASRT8 initial post, I took his comment "I like the bike but don't ride fast anymore" to be in comparison to a GSXR - i.e. does it do well in the canyons or do you wish you had something faster like a GSXR...

Either way, I like mine and think it's plenty fast enough (I would probably kill myself on a 160HP sport bike).

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Cheers,
-Jack
