+1 - mine is an '06, and I was worried last year when this happened to me.
The folks in this forum ensured me that it was common, and sure enough, it starts every time.

 

Don't recall having that problem with my '05 XL1200C, but with the '04 it happens every time. When I first brought the bike home, it wouldn't start when I took it off the trailer.

Charged the battery and it started right up. After a night of sitting I had the same problem. Slow turning over and the engine wouldn't catch.

The battery was the stock (5 year old) battery. Changed it with a new one. However each time I press the starter button, the engine turns over once, then hesitates (at which time the odometer display dims a bit) then it turns over and starts without issue.

Didn't have a similar experience with the 1200, but with the 'new' bike it happens every time.
