To much sand still on the roads. People dont think so but weve had 3 bike wrecks already. Guy/Gal gets into the center lane and looses it. We had one woman slide 180' on the pavement. Weve had some good rain, not eveything is completly washed off the roads. At night its been in the 20's, not enjoyable to ride that cold to me.
I have to agree, the temp is one thing, but snow and road conditions are something else. I live on a dirt road so there's a thing we call MUD SEASON. Just getting to pavement can be a trick. 6 months on the bike then we pull out the snowmobiles!!!
Yeah, to my knowledge they don't make knobby tires for Harleys, and it would probably sink in the mud. Besides, thats when it's time for fun in the 4x4 truck.

Sure they do...
Guys that run their Harley's up and down some of the mud/gravel roads in Alaska and the Northwest Territories run knobby tires very frequently.
The guy below runs his Softail (with knobbies) up to the Artic Circle, through the Northwest Territories, etc..
Having lived up in Alaska for a number of years I saw guys riding their Harley's in many conditions where most would be afraid to take a Dual Sport motorcycle (street legal dirt bike)..
It all just depends on what you are comfortable riding in. I rode every month this winter. I didn't ride in the snow, but the longest in between rides was probably about two weeks. The cold is fine, I rode in 12 degrees, but the snow and Ice are a bad thing.
12 degrees? Oh man. I hope you had a full face on.
