I have a half shell and a FF and have listened to some riders mention a skull cap. What if any is the difference between a half shell and a skull cap?

 

Most of the scull caps I've seen aren't DOT approved.

 

As jbg pointed out, the skull caps are non-dot. They also don't catch as much wind as the DOT halfers. You can also refer to the skull caps as a beanie helmet, pi$$ bucket, skid lid, peanut shell, etc.

 

don't forget brain bucket Usually what they use to clean up grey matter with after the fact.

 

The skull caps make you look like an eraser head.

a skull cap is about 2 inches smaller than a half helmet and non-DOT, has minimal padding and is as close to not wearing a helmet as you can get....
