Rode 10 bikes today!!!

I was doing a little research on the XR1200 and came across this thread. You're being a little hard on easyrider aren't you? I like the fact that he rode a bunch of different bikes and let us in on what he thought about them. Its a rarity to hear an objective report on Harley -VS- non-US bikes from either group.
I looking into going from an old V-4 sportbike to a v-twin. Living here in the Black Hills, Harley's are the most common bikes by far so I thought I'd give them a try. For me its just a matter of whether to buy old and put in some effort or buy new. The new XR1200 sort of looks like a standard so it might be easier on my hands/wrists. Working on the abs is good advise but I think my problems go a little deeper.

Wow, I forgot I even posted this. Just an update on other factors to consider. Insurance. I have gotten quotes from 6 insurance companies and the lowest was State Farm. Buell XB12R=121 a month/ Buell 1125R=135 a month/ Yamaha R1= 191 a month/ XR 43 a month. So I will be buying an XR. Even if it is a higher priced bike it washes out when you factor in insurance. Just to put this in to perspective I pay 107 a month for my house!!!! I am 25 with perfect credit and one speeding ticket when I was 16. Oh and the highest quote for all the bikes above was Nationwide. Over 230 for the sportbikes and 58 for the XR. I know my age hurts me but I can't change that.

Again I know the XR cannot compete with every other bike in terms of speed. But, it all comes down to how you feel on a bike. On the street the XR can keep up with every bike on the road legally. Since I make my living off of my CDL that matters to me. The XR feels like a dream to me, plus it's American.

There are just some bikes that are beyond peoples skill levels. The R1 is a dream machine and it handles superbly. Yes, the front end does like to come up but it doesn't have to come up and if you work on those stomach muscles your wrists won't be doing all the work. I love sportbikes, always have and always will but the XR1200 isn't a sportbike nor should it be compared to them.

Old post I know but I want to respond. Rider skill is over exaggerated by most. I know I can't ride like Nicky Hayden, and neither can you. Why would I want a bike that would require that? Even if I was Nicky, I can't ride like him legally so what's the point? I will probably never go on a track. Don't really want to. Oh and my abs are like a washboard, I have had guys wash their leopard thongs on my abs........................I love being gay.
