how long do they last before they should be replaced.

Some say 100,000 is the expected life span. some= dealer.
Common cause of failure is rocks getting in the belt.

Friend of mine with a FXDWG has over 80K on the original belt.
I've never had one fail, but they usually get replaced every 30K or so. That's probably 'overkill', but I just feel better putting on a new belt every so often.
Keep them adjusted and they will last a long time....

cool thanks guys. ya i noticed that if i had to replace mine now it would cost $200.00 right now.
