Carb for a 1985 1000 Knucklehead
Fellas,
I know y'all don't know me over here....I spend most of my time over on the Dyna page. But I'm hoping you can help a brother out. I'm helping my uncle look for a carb for a 1985 1000 Knucklehead.....The bike has a lot of history between him and my dad (who passed away a little over a year ago). Anyway the bike needs a carb bad and we're looking for a Minuki (think that's how it's spelled). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
CK

Hey CK,
I see you're in Richmond Hill. It's maybe a little far for you but Beaufort Cycles in Beaufort, SC should be able to help you out. Talk to Luke or Nick (843) 263-1430. They are really cool guys who really know older Sportsters and can give you the help you need.
BTW... what you have is an ironhead Sportster not a knucklehead (1947 was the last year they were made and they were never a Sportster motor) and the carb you're asking about is a Mikuni and the HSR42 model is pretty commonly used on (nice) Sportsters. I would call the guys at BC and make sure thats the best one to use on your particular bike though. Good luck!
