Question 93 sporty turn signal problem...

hey guys,

my buddy who owns a 93 883 sporty is having some turn signal issues... the right rear signal does not work. the front right turn signal works, as a marker light and maybe flashes, i forget. anyways, we installed a new switch, didnt help. check bulbs and what not, and still is not working. is there any other thing to check? it looks like the turn signal wires run into a box on the right side of the bike, probably controls flashing and stuff like that. could this go bad and all other lights would still work? anyone have any other ideas???

thanks ya'll.

Buy a manual and a multi meter and run all of the checks it tells you to do! Check for loose connections and fuses, could be a pinched wire as well.

That little box by the battery is the signal control. It's about a hundred dollar part. I would check bulbs and grounds first.

We hit the bike pretty hard with test light and multimeter... Done the bulb thing... The housing should be grounded right, b/c there is only one wire coming from the box over to the turn signal. There is a butt connector after this box, like someone has ran a new wire to the signal. Maybe this is something that has been fixed before, and now has reared its ugly head again. Might try and run a new wire and see what happens... Well thanks for the input... Keep it coming!

Take the bulb from the other rear signal and put it in. Then see if it works. Sometimes you can't see where a filament is burned out.....

Multitester the bulb housing too. If no juice gets there, follow the line back to the signal box...test there.

Bulb thing would be easiest check first....

Edit: saw you did some of that. Sorry......

Check to make sure that the wires didn't rub on the tire. Right side of tire will be shiny. Worse case you'll have to remove your rear wheel. Sometimes haulin' a chubby friend can cause this. Good Luck.
