Default **need some info for an 05 883l**

Hey guys.

My nephew needs a hand with cleaning his carb. Can anyone help me out with a few things as I figure if I'm in there I might as well show him how to rejet.

Does anyone know of a step by step how to on re jetting an 05' 883L stock sportster carb?

What type of carb is stock?

What size jets main jet is stock?

Does this type of carb have a "clip" on the needle or do you need to use shims?

My nephew is going to stay with the stock pipes (punched out) and a stock air cleaner but we all know they are way to lean in stock form so I'd like to get it correct for him.

How many sizes do you guys jump to for a stock set up?

How many shims do you use on the needle?

I know this info is buried here somewhere but I was hoping someone could help me out as we are doing the work in the AM.

OH-btw......I could crown my brother for not storing the bike properly before selling it to his son!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's going to be too big with a stock A/C. I'd start with a 45 pilot and leave the 175 main and see how it runs.

that sounds correct....I souldn't have to touch the main.

is the mixture screw on top or is it a sealed deal under the bottom? From what I remember, adding a whim to the stock needle should be like a quarter turn on the mixture screw correct?

thanks for the help guys.

under the carb and if not yet touched will have a tamper proof plug.
you will have to drill out plug
