And I .... SAT on an 09 Sportster today, a Nightster to be exact! Man that is a nice bike .... with my "black hole" credit I doubt they'd let me test ride it, in fact I don't think they let anyone test ride, most people know what they want. That sucker's LOW and 5X the displacement of my Rebel, 200 more lbs I think, and feels damn near as small. And while it's low as heck I just don't see any problem with cornering, there's nothing sticking out low, and not much sticking out, higher. I think I'm in love....

Enjoy your 883L a year or two first. Going from a Honda Rebel to a 1200 Nightster can get you in trouble QUICK, especially if you aren't used to the throttle response (clutch is your friend). Yes, the Nightster is narrow...it's also only 3.9" off the ground, so it's quite possible and easy to scrape hard parts around corners. It's a harsh ride, but it's FUN! I have a 1200 Low with forwards and 11" Progressive shocks on the rear. My frame's about the same distance off the ground as the Nightster and I scrape sometimes.
Oh, and if you keep at it you WILL get a Nightster someday! They're easy to fall in love with! And STAY in love with!
