I don't profess to know a lot or even much for that matter, but I've yet to see a used sportster for $3,000 unless is was is REAL bad shape maybe.

You can probably find a good but old one for $5K? But $3K is a little low.

but hey- in this economy, who knows?

I see gobs of them for $4k, $4500, etc. Sometimes for $3500 or so, I bet if you had the cash right there, maybe cash and something to trade, you could get a post - year 2000 bike for sure.

1986 to 2003, the older the cheaper.

you will see the older ones in 3-4k they want there money back for extras but if you show up with straight cash that is less than there offer they usually take it on the spot, this applies if u are buying locally from classified ads or something.

i bought a honda rebel for 600 the guy wanted 850 or so but i showed up and offered 600 cash on the spot.

Who refuses a lot of cash money when they are put on the spot like that? not many, its worth a try to get a deal

Yep cash money talks these days. Endless 883L's all over the place, check Craig's List, bulletin boards at your local bike place, ask your local Harley clubs, etc. you'll find one no problem.
