Isn't the four gal. tank longer than the three gal. tank?
Anyway, the contact between the seat and the tank doesn't bother me. All the pictures I could find show some contact between the seat and tank.

yeah, the tank is longer so they make the seat shorter.
i don't have a badlander but i do have a brawler that was made to fit a custom or a roadster and it still fits. you just end up with the gap.
IMO the gap is just one of the the things that make a stock 1200n look a lil different from the other sporties.
For 2 up i just got a pillion and used the stock seat. It's a pita to swap the stock seat from pillion to solo.

The Badlander is NOT a comfortable seat. I bought 1 and was very disappointed. Total waste of money IMHO.
