Default Converting a 08 Nightster to Carb.

Ok im not really sure about this but my brother is wanting to do it and im going to help him.. I would never do this to my bike but... he has 08 Nightster bone stock.. He got this wild hair from reading some magazine that said something about turning the Nightster carborated.. Im not really sure why he wants to do that but ok.. .. I guess he likes the idea of mine being a pain to start when its cold.. Just wanted to know if anyone has done this and if so is it as easy as they say.. or is it a pain.. I'll find out later this evening what magazine and what issue it is.. for anyone that wants to go try to pick it up.

There are a lot of electrical components involved there that will be disabled. If any of the remaining electronics is dependant on the disabled components, seems to me there could be some real problems.

But I really don't know. My initial reaction was....what??? are you kidding me. But I suppose it's possible.

It's been done. For starters, the ECM (computer) will have to be replaced with an 04-06 series ICM.
Carb'ed bikes are also gravity fed from the fuel tank, his EFI bike is fuel pump fed.

WTF? Sell the bike and get an older carbed one. Why would you want to open this can of worms?

He he! I'll bet he looses quite a bit of weight once he removes all the electronics and wiring he won't need. He will get rid of the ECM, change the tank, change the throttle body and rewire half of the bike... I would buy an older carbed bike and turn it into a nightster by chopping the fender and adding the fork gaiters maybe even fab a mount for the nightster seat if he wants that look, I am sure it would be alot less work and cheaper to do it that way.
