its really is an easy swap....new tank, ecm swap (all plug in) manifold and carb. then he has the freedom to run a radical cam(not compatible with FI) Tons of aftermarket pipes that don't require 02 sensors. and loads of other options.....the only way I will ever own a new scoot is if it has a carb. Look at the cost of FI service,vs rebuilding a carb (or buying a s&s for that matter)

the only reason I can see for putting a carb back on is for lots of engine mods. First of all, a good tuneable carb is 700 bucks AT LEAST. Can you run alcohol in fuel injected bikes? I would imagine not. That's the only reason I'm not considering fuel injection. I'd keep your old parts in case you don't like the carb. You're definitely gonna lose mileage and power until you start putting cams in, strait flow exhaust, and stuff like that. With all the hop ups you can get for an injected bike, unless you're wanting to drag race the thing or run with the crotch rockets I see no reason to downgrade. Mine will definitely outrun GXSR's and CBR's, but I'm always screwing with the mixture and you wouldn't believe how noisy my top end is with the big cams I've got. You bought a new bike because it was maintenance free, easy to start, and good on gas, right? I'd definitely consider finding an older sporty to mod rather than ruining a perfectly good new one. Just my opinion.

yeah, not to mention, he's gonna lose his *** if he ever plans on trading it in. I doubt they would honor the full retail trade deal on a bike that's been so heavily modified.
Don't get me wrong. I really loved my carb'd 06 sportster. It ran perfectly once the stage one was done. But now, I have a softail with efi and man, it's awesome. I would not ever consider converting it to a carb. That's not to say that I wouldn't ever buy another carb'd bike again though.
