Question 05 XL 883L Clutch Question

Hello,

Does the 05 883L have the reduced effort clutch in it? Easier to pull clutch lever.

If not, is there a part to reduce the amount of muscle needed to pull in the clutch? As in spring pressure or hydraulic actuation?

I recall reading that some year Harley reduced the clutch pull on the 883L.

Thanks,

They redid that in '07. There was a thread on here (or in the Softail area) just yesterday showing what the part was they replaced and where you can get it. Try a search.

The easy pull clutch came out on the 06 models and yes, Harley does have a part to reduce the effort on the 04 and 05 models.

The reduced effort clutch was first introduced on the Sporty in 2004. I believe they did further improve it in 2007, but I'm not certain of that.

Howdy,

Thanks for the replies!!

We tested the feel of the clutch lever of the 05 883L compared to my 03 FXD and 04 FLTR, and we cannot sense any difference among the three,

I assumed the 05 had the reduced effort clutch but from the hands on feel, I doubt it,

I looked at the Harley site for a kit for the Sportster but came up blank,

The only kit I found was for the big motors, the TC's,

I did find this site and product,

clutch

If anyone has used this on the Sportster, how much did it lessen the force needed on the clutch lever?

i installed the easy pull on my 05 and it made a big differance. I cut my fingers off on my left hand and had a hard time pullin in the clutch. It is worth it. it is a very good product. installs in about 30 min.

I believe the below is the model that is sometimes ordered and installed at the dealerships;

The only thing is that it is suppose to be installed by a harley mechanic at the dealership, but for what it's worth the install isn't that difficult.
