Default Short Shot installation

Considering buying a Nightster for the wife and adding black V&H short shots myself.

Has anybody every done this themselves and installed the fuel pack also? Is it realistic that a novice mechanic could do it himself and the bike still run right?

Well, the stupidity of the human race never fails to amaze me, but I think thta anyone who can turn a wrench at all can install these. My single biggest tip for these,

Do not overtighten the shields, or you will pull "dents into them" Get them snug, but not overtight

The nuts used by Harley are concrete soluble. I swear I've lost every one I've dropped.

Read the instructions for thepipes: my FLSTC V&H needed the shields put on BEFORE putting on the bike which is complete opposite of way most go on! PITA otherwise.

Its not to bad to install, i would buy some new exhaust gaskets. Read the fuelpak instruction a few times. Also make sure you put the clamp the right way. Do the O2 sensor while the pipes are off the bike. You will be fine, any question PM me

This is a a fact. I try to have 4 extras everytime I take off or put on a new exhaust. Should be simple enough. Never did a fuel pack, but I cannot imagine it being too tricky. Unplug, plug in, program. Exhaust is simple...

For the fuel pak, there is a video on the V&H website on how to install it. It can be a pain tucking the wiring harness in under the seat, but if you follow how they do it on the video you'll be fine. The pipes are a piece of cake - it'll probably take you longer to get the stock ones off.
