Question Iron 883s & XR1200Xs in Sydney by the end of the week-hopefully

I got a call from my dealer here in Sydney on Thursday, last week. I'm really struggling now, as I can't make my mind up whether to take the Iron 883 or the XR1200X. I've been told "if" I want either, I can take delivery by the end of the week. The shipment is due to arrive from the Melbourne warehouse hopefully this week. I'm really struggling with this decision. I realise these are two totally different bikes-in both form and function...but that being said I'm not sure what to do.

cheers,

Will

Default passenger peg install question

I just purchased the kit from my local HD dealer and they told me that I needed to buy additional 4 screws for the install. I installed the pegs last night with no problem but I didn't use the screws. Does anybody know what I might have done wrong? I have a 09 883 Iron. Thanks.

Default Introducing...

Hey All--

Just wanted to introduce myself to all you Ironistas. I put down a deposit for an Iron last week and am now eagerly awaiting its arrival. Dealer says it won't be here until some time between January and March, so I've been reading enviously about all the fun you folks have been having. You all have put together some great-looking bikes! I've been collecting the ideas and I'm eager to put them to use when my own finally comes in!

While I'm at it, I thought I'd ask what you folks think of this OTD price for a 2010 Iron 883.

$7999 for bike
$850 for freight and prep
$150 for registration
$300 for docs
$741 for tax
==========
$10,040 total

Seems kinda steep to me, especially since I heard other dealers were just waiving the freight and prep charges. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance. And happy riding, everyone.

I am in the same boat...been looking for a few months myself...I have got a similar answer from most dealers I have gone to visit...The Iron is the hot ticket right now and they literally do not stay on the floor for more then a few days here in So Cal...I am sure it varies in other parts of the country...

One dealer gave me $10k OTD (no P&A and no Extended warranty)

Another gave me the same price but instead waived the Frieght and Prep and giving me the extended warranty...also got gap insurance and several hundred bucks to get HD Goodies..oh and my first 1000 miles service was thrown in as well...

Needless to say I took them up on the offer and drove it home

I do find it odd that the dealer would not get one until Jan or March...seems kind of long but HD has been releasing them here and there over the last month...

Good Luck
