Added some air shocks Part# 54565-97C. The ride is so much better. The bike feels very tall now but I like it. No more scraping pipes and pegs. The shocks look like they are made for the Iron, black with black gaiters. I started off using just 2 washers but the gaiter on the belt side was rubbing the belt guard. Took them back off today and added 4 washers, top and bottom, for a total of 16 washers. Fits just right now. Don't have the valves yet so I'm just using them with no air.
Coming up soon:
New fork springs / oil.
SuperBrace.
Have to do something with the stock headlight. Sucks at night.
Highway pegs.
I also would like some new grips at some point.

I'm ready to load her up and hit the road.

Well after riding for a bit (only 220 miles on my Iron) I've come to the conclusion that I need a new seat! Sounds like a good winter project to save up some money for...and I'm sure my butt will thank me!

I only weigh 120lbs but the stock seat after ~30+ minutes of riding starts to annoy me...so the big question is, Danny Gray or Mustang?

I was also thinking about a springer seat from HD but from what I've read they don't seem all that comfortable, and I know Mustang makes good seats (my father has one on his V-Star), but Danny Gray's gel inserts sound awefully nice!

So which is it? Gray's are more for sure...but I think they look nice too.

Hey guys i'm new to the site and I have an iron that I got about 5 months ago and the girl friend wants to go for a ride but I'm worried that a new seat or pad will hurt the paint. So the guys that have 2up seats or pads on them can you tell me if its hurting the paint at all or did you use some kind of felt or something that to protect the paint. Thanks

I just put a 2up sundowner seat on mine, I dont see how it would mess with the paint. it goes on just like the stock seat except you go down one screw. i took it for a test ride and the wife loves it. no scratches or anything that i could see.

James88, I just thought with the denim paint the seat might wear the paint alittle bit. Like in the corners from her sitting on it. thanks

I don't have any problems with the seat. You might want to change the shocks before going 2 up. My wife is 110 pounds, I'm 170, and together we turned my Iron into a hardtail.

I think anything you put under your passenger seat will act the same as the seat. What ever it is, felt, the seat, or finder bib. Something still has to touch the paint and seems like it might rub here and there. I also have no idea what I'm talking about Welcome to the site, tons of good reading and info here.

Quick question to anyone who has 13" shocks. Has anyone had a problem with extra stress on the jiffy stand?
