the x14ied are basically a resistor that lowers the 02 sensor voltage returning to the ecm so the ecm thinks the reading is leaner than it actually is. They also only work when the bike is in the closed loop parameters (part throttle cruise) anything outside the closed loop parameters remain unchanged and run on a factory predetermined map.
They will help in cruise surge if you have that problem

Yes
it will help with the Heat
the leaner the fuel the hotter the bike gets
if the mixture is rich it will run a little cooler
Using the Xied on my bike
these are a seat of the pants observations
and I can cruise at an easy 30 MPH without surging
eventually will get a PC5 for performance
but the Xied is working well for me right now

I have the X14ied's and a Bub 2into1 exhaust as the only mods so far on my '10 883.
Ied install takes about 5 minutes, simple disconnect of o2 connectors and plug in Ied's.
Engine runs as smooth as silk now with no surges like it had stock after sitting at stoplights
on 110 degree days. No oil temp gauge yet but seems to run cooler. Gas mileage
is still the same as before Ied's, about 50-55 mpg, and I ride it a lot harder now.
Phoenix is still going to be in the 90's this first week of Nov., at least the nights are
cooling into the 50's here in Cave Creek now. Unlike the folks up north, I'm
looking forward to winter.
