Default Anyone recomend a good lock?

Looking to get a lock for my new Sportster. Can anyone recomend one that is good. I was thinking about getting one of the ones that locks onto the front brake rotor. Do they work?

Any advice would be appreciated.

It is better to get a chain and lock the bike to something stationary. Gun works good too. Put a holster on your seat. I have a Kryponite new york lock. Still ahve the bike. Disc locks are too easy to forget to take off.

I suppose its a good idea but then again all I rely on is insurance considering if anyone wants something bad enough it wont matter.

+1 - 3 or 4 guys and an open bed pickup truck and your bike with the rotor lock is gone in seconds.

True; anything that can be stolen, will! I have the HD chrome lock ($28) and disc locks ($ same) from dealer on both mine bikes although I only carry the fork lock for riding. Both would take grinding to remove as they are tough M.F.'s. Nothing is fool-proof but at least they have to work harder than just wheeling it away!

I have this one, allows you to lock it to a post or fence, at best would just slow them down but maybe might convince them to steal someone elses unlocked bike.

When I'm traveling I use this cable. Lock two bikes together or lock my bike to a post. Sure hope I never loose the keys.

I've always figured rotor locks were just a waste especialy on a lighter weight bike.

Many years ago I was told by a LEO that the only thing a lock does is "keep an honest person honest" My favorite lock is a .45 ACP and a sticker that says "if you value your life, like I value this bike, don't F**k with it." Other than that and a good alarm, just have good insurance and hope for the best

Yep, locks and/or cables only keep an honest person honest...

Nothing more....

Lock? "snap".... Cable: "snap"... Only takes a couple of seconds.....

Yep. I know a guy that had some heavy duty lock on his bike. He still has the lock, cut in half. Found it laying where he last parked his bike.
