Default Speedo / Tach Combo Unit

I miss not having a Tach. Anyone have the Speedo / Tach combo unit in the Harlet Accessories catalogue?

4" Combination Speedometer/Tachometer - Color-Matched Lighting

Utilizing the trip reset push-button, the multi-color LED lighting system allows the rider to adjust the backlighting of the gauge to the color of choice. With over 600 color tone options, the gauge lighting can be matched to any paint scheme or viewing preference. The gauge features an easy-to-read LCD odometer/tripmeter. Mileage reinstatement is available through your dealer.

This product is available in multiple variations. Be sure to look for the one that fits the specific model and year of your motorcycle.

74726-08

Fits '07-later XL models. '07 models require separate purchase of Resistor Pack P/N 72545-08.

MSRP US $499.95

Let me know how it works. I haven't checked with the dealer but I'm wondering if the same cable carries all the electronic info? It dosn't say anything about changing cables in the catelog.

I was thinking of getting one of these. Do you all know what "reinstatement" means? Do they give you an official paper stating your mileage before the swap or do they actually put your original miles back on the new odometer?

Yes, they actually put the odometer reading from the original speedo into the new speedo. However, I was under the impression that MOCO did that to the new speedo's, not the dealer, but the listing says the dealer can now do that. Oh, and there will probably be a new cord/wire bundle to hook up the tach portion, as those will be seperate wires from the speedo wires currently on the bike. Looks cool.

But, all I got say is...... $500, I think I'll keep my ear as the tach.

I have one of these on my bike and it works very well. I can't tell you much about the installation because it was on the bike when I bought it. My only comment would be that the speedometer indicators are very small for someone myself who usually wear reading galsses. It get;s me close enough however.

I have also noticed condensation inside the galss a few times, but I understand this is a problem with most Sportster speedometers.

Hey BucksBike - I am also in Bucks County (Washington Crossing). You are welcomed to check it out sometime if want to actually see one on a bike.

This wouldn't work for an 87 because on the 2004 up models all info like speed, RPM, engine light, etc goes over the databus connection. I suppose it's a good thing for you though because there are SOOO many more options for aftermarket tachometers for the 2003 and below bikes.

I would definitely get something else besides this for that much cash. I picked up a Motogadget Motoscope mini for $300 and mounted it in my visor and it has tach and speedo as well. Its also a small fraction of the size of the standard HD speedo.

I like this combo unit a lot but it is very overpriced.
