Default K&N air filter fit

Hey, I just put in a new hd8834 filter in my stock filter housing and it seems to have pushed the cover out enough that it doesn't quite seal at the top. I made sure that the screws turned in the filter even after they were all the way in before I started to put it on the bike. By that i mean that the screws sorta thread in all the way so that when they are in all the way they get tight so I kept turning them so they would turn freely and tighten up to the carb. I put it on and it kinda deforms the rubber seal at the top on the chrome cover. Do I need to remove some metal off of the oil breather snouts on the filter? It almost seems that they are bottoming out before the filter is in for enough to seal the outer cover. Anyone?? Thanks Mark

It sounds like you may have forgotten to take off the back cover when you installed the new upgrade? It should be just the filter in there. The rear cover gets removed when you do the upgrade.
