Amen brother! I was always skeptical until I joined this forum. Too many people are running too many different kinds of oil. That only leads me to believe that it dont matter that much. As for me, I do believe that synthetic is better than regular oil. Other than that I believe oil is oil. Keep it changed when its supposed to be and reide the hell out of it!

synthetic has definite advantages, and I would consider that the only real choice in oils. syn or dino, other than that doesnt matter.

Syn oil runs MUCH cooler. I have an oil temp guage, and noticed an immediate 20 - 40 degree drop in oil temp, runnning under the same conditions.

Just for conversation sake, I use Mobil 1. I was running Mobil 1 v-twin 20w 50, but switched to regular Mobil 1 15w 50. I think I will switch back at the next oil change. I've noticed the oil blow by problem again since I switched to 15w 50 oil.

Read an artical last night about the flash point of different oil, Mobile syn. 20-50 had the highest, 518 degrees, higher than even Redline, they did say Redline was made from polyester stock, which is supposed to be the best.I don't run syn.in any of my vehicles except my air cooled bikes,it is the best for dealing with heat.

Any good synthetic in 20w50 will work. Just keep it changed. If you ride it hard, change it out every 2500 miles.

How about the tranny, I know for my old yamaha ttr250, and 450f you didn't use synth because it messes with a wet clutch. not sure if that applies here or not
