Default At the new dealer today

Went to the new dealer in Great Neck Long Island (formerly Hempstead) asked about the 1000 dealer prep fee on a XL1200C was told they are the hardest bikes to remove from the crate thats why it warrants a grand, he told me the bike is suspended in the air inside so it cant be harmed.

When I was there last week looking at a superglide ,I was told they have to put it together there fore it was a grand and when I wanted to SEE a streetbob I was told I would need to pay a 500 vig first , for them to get one in.
Well I guess an old tiger cant change its stripes

So I guess I am headed upstate New York for a new ride

It's a shame the way dealers treat people. What a load of crap. I paid what I should pay - MSRP, no prep, no setup. Dealer needs to learn the phrase "Cost of doing business." The Sporty's aren't in so high of demand that they warrant more than MSRP. I can see a dealer adding freight, but to hell with the rest of the markups.

If I remember right there's a dealership in Ithaca that had nice people and sold for MSRP. Not sure how far Upstate you're looking to go, but good luck.

You sound like me. I've got a Jeep, a trailer, and have driven 2 hours to a dealership. Not to save money, but just to avoid dealing with crooks. Principal matters sometimes.
