Default Pulley swap

I just installed a 29 tooth front pulley on my 2000 1200C. My reason for doing this was to change the rpm range when driving at the posted speed limits around town (usually when the men with the red and blue lights are tailing me!). It seemed that at 30- 35 mph, second gear was starting to wind up too much and third was lugging on a hill. Same with 40-45mph limits and 3rd and 4th gears. Anyway it worked better than I thought whithout any noticeable loss of pickup. My question isoes anyone know how much that would increase the top speed? The original pulley was 27 tooth.

This is a gearing/speed chart for tube frame model Buells, although the speeds will be slightly different for a Sporty, you may get an idea of the increase/decrease invoved.

( The speed calculations are theoretical based on the Horsepower, I am running a 29 front 61 rear, and I dont think my bike would do the best part of 140mph!!! )

Thanks Lev,

That's exactly what I was looking for...more of a comparison than perfect numbers. I doubt I'll ever have the nerve to see the top end from the saddle anyway! (bike doesn't stop fast enough as it is...good brakes...shitty tire width!)

Don't know waht the horsepower is on mine...not stock...stage 2...............

The only problem being with mine, the speedo sensor takes its reading from one of the gear cogs. When you change the pulleys you alter the bikes speed, but the sensor still reads from the gear giving a false speedo reading. Im planning to complete the change by fitting a 27 tooth pulley to the front which will give an approximate 17% speedo error when done.

Is the 1200c the same?

I must admit though, just changing the rear pulley on mine has made a tremendous difference to acceleration, and it just feels so much more comfortable at lower speeds.
