Default Mirror Recommendations

Hello Guys/Gals,

I just purchased a new to me Sportster that will become my work motorcycle and trainer for my wife.

The previous owner installed HD's drag bars, which look good; but not very functional for me.

He also reused what I presume to be the factory mirrors, which is a problem. They simply do not allow me to see what is going one behind me as they do not extend out far enough.

I am looking for recommendations to replace the factory mirrors with something that looks good and is functional as well.

Any ideas and part numbers?

Attached is a picture of the setup.

I don't really have a suggestion except that with drags its hard even with extetions to get the mirrors out far enough to see beyond your arms.

Those mirrors give a pretty good rear view.
You might want to look into different bars instead.
Cost could be close to the same...maybe cheaper.

Agree with Schu I am buying a left side bar end mirror from Joker Machine pricey but I seen some for around $30.00.

This looks like a viable option, outside replacing the bars. I beleive that the original owner probably cut the wires short for the new bars; short of extending the wires and replacement bars, I like the Joker Mirrors.

My plans are to ride this bike back and forth while rotating between my CVO for about a year, until I get bored of riding it then tricking this thing out for my wife as her 1st motorcycle.

It is a 2006 883C with 2600 miles and picked it up for song. Next plans outside the obvious chrome trinkets from HD, will be the 1200cc conversion.

Thanks again for your suggestions! You guys have some great ideas and rides, look forward to more posing on the Sportster Model section as I progress and share ideas and information.

I have drags as well and couldn't see &^@# behind me. Harley has a model mirror that includes both a standard mirror and a small convex mirror that provides good coverage of blind spots. Still can see directly behind, but it's much better. See link to photo in my sig.

I could only see my arms when I put my drag bars on, before spending a lot of money on new bars or mirrors do your self a favor and turn turn your mirrors upside down (hang them below the bars).
I had great plans for new mirrors but after hanging them below the bars they work perfect, it only takes about five minutes to switch them and you will be amazed how good they work that way.

the joker machine bar end mirrors work great and look trick. i have a set on my nightrod and just ordred a set for my xr1200. part# for chrome is 03-02. i have the black and the convex mirror they use in them shows quite a bit of the road behind you and they are adjustable both up and down as well as in and out. check them out at jokermachine.com.
