Default stupid q about headlight trim rings

I just won this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

Was in the dealership looking at them in person today. I see they have like a little rubber gasket thing on the inside.
Ok, since I won't be getting instructions, Do you take off the ring already on there, or does this go over it?

Hi Schu, And welcome to the forum, there are no stupid questions here (I think I read that in about 1000 of your post schu) (hee, hee) The one I got you just change the ring, the rubber stayed on the light. Hope this helped. Ride safe.

so you take the old one off, throw it in the neighbors yard, and put the new one on then?

That's what I did. O rings and gaskets should always be replaced each time a component is disassembled, so they say.

I did the trim rings on my turn signals and when I took the original trim off there was not even any o-rings. There is now. Supposed to keep moisture out.

the actual glass bulb should be sealed inside there so you dont really need to worry about it as far as i know. Mine took a whole 2 minutes to put on. just the one screw on the bottom. there should be a couple of tabs on the top that fit into the groove to hold it on. Very easy, no mechanical knowledge needed.
