I really dont care about the power loss from the pipes I just wanted to no when I change over to a s/s carb if i would pick up a few HP. The bike has great power getting a few more HP would allways be nice lol
Uh, well, OK, it's you're ride. You've been given good advice including that the S&S will buy you nothing. It's not that people here "hate" drag pipes, it's more a case of becoming educated and not wanting to throw away HP. There are plenty of good pipes on the market that accomplish that and are still plenty loud. Don't feel to bad though, it's amusing to watch the newbies here that think open drags are the answer only to read 6 months later they are replacing them or installing torque cones or baffles because they finally realize the street performance $ucks.

You have a 50 year old tractor exhaust system you might as well put on a 50 year old tractor carb to go with it.
P.S. you're not going to get anymore performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sound like my wife! You already had your mind set so why did you ask for advice. I guess you just hoped someone would agree with you.

I re-jetted my stock carb with the Thunderslide Kit and I feel like I got a 10% boost in hp, I can tell a big difference in the throttle.

i agree 110% with thesse guys. but if you are completely committed to drag pipes. i would recomend. having your local exhaust shop build you a 2 into 1. it'd cost you about 200.00 and itd be just as loud probably louder. i built mine, and my bikes the loudest in our crew. just have them keep the stock diameter down to the y pipe. then cone up to 3" and cone down the end to 2 1/2". no need for baffles because the exhaust feed creats its own back pressure.

p.s. i ride and 82 shovel with nothing more than a well tuned keihin, a crane fireball and my homemade pipe. i beat all my brothers' twin cams until about 60 and the start easing ahead.... barely.

Your better off going HERE to learn how to tune your CV. You'll see better performance then putting a S&S on. Plus you'll only spend about 70 bucks compared to the price of a new Carb.

PS: I know you don't want to hear it but drag pipes suck.
