ridin today
Well guys- not to rub it in or anything but I am getting used to being retired and in the last 2 weeks So Cal - although still the land of fruits and nuts - has cooperated nicely by offering up temps in the high 70's to mid 80's so I have been riding every day for about 3-4 hours or more. LOving life!

Was driving (in the cage-27 before the wind chill) to the sheriffs dept to pick up my CC lic.... heard a familiar rumble.. was thinking 'wow, cool, someone was being brave today'... looked over to see a guy in a heavy winter coat - AND SHORTS?!! I thought I was heavy into winter denial - but he has me beat hands down. Wow!

After the last 2 days. I highly recommend heated gear if you want or need to ride in really cold temps. I've done it for the last couple of years, but this was my first trip with the heated gear.
I was riding down the interstate at 80 mph. Nice clear day, sun was out in full force. It was 14 degrees. With the heated gear, I was toasty warm....kicked back with my feet on the highway pegs, left hand resting on my leg. Just like a nice little 80 mile ride in July. I could have gone for 200 miles or more, but my destination was just a short hop of 80 miles.

My son and I went out for a quick trip to "Duncan Junction" for breakfast. 12 degrees out there. We were gonna ride all the way in to town and eat at the Waffle House but my right eyeball was freezing in the socket and I was having trouble keeping that eye open. And my hands were sort of frozen to the point where it was hard to work the clutch. That's the coldest weather I've ever ridden in. Google maps says 7.2 miles from our house to Duncan Junction. *brrrr*
