Default XR1200 is the Real McCoy!

Everyone keeps wondering and guessing what the xr1200 is all about. I have one and can tell you the thing rocks! I also ride a Road King, but the xr is a total hoot. Definitely will hold its own in the twisties with the hooligans. To sum it up, it's the sportiest bike Harley has ever made. Plenty of good vids on Youtube that demonstrate the bikes handling qualities. Try this one for starters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HINq74kflIg

its more like

"a day late and a dollar short", i think that describes the XR just a little better. needs some more refinement, it has potential

Honestly, and I just went over this in the other thread about these things, they're cool and all, and yes, I realize they race them...but what you'd buy in a showroom ain't got jack **** on those bikes in that vid or that one in the pic up there. The instant they get ahold of those bikes they're torn down to nothing and built up with parts that most street riders usually can't afford and really don't need in the first place.

Like I said...they're cool and all...but there's no way in HELL you'd run with those bikes on a stock XR1200.

These look a lot better in person. Pics don't really do them justice. I'm not sure if I would buy one, but I bet they would be a lot of fun to play around on.

The bike rocks out of the box. To run with the racers, you're looking at race ohlins in the rear, pipes, steering stab, and very little in the way of engine hop-up. Not as spendy or involved as you might think.

No internal engine mods on thee BBQ Series bikes

You can buy the kit for around 3500 Euro + VAT

Maybe it's just me but I didn't buy an XR1200 to race it - or try to spank anyone with it through the canyons

And just cause it looks so friggin' cool...

I really hope they bring this series here - it would be an absolute hoot to watch

A buddy of mine use to race sportbikes years ago. He use to own a shop rebuilding old Triumphs also.
Anyway he own a CVO RG and before that came in he had a Buell.
When the XR1200 arrived he just had to have one and he loves it.
CVO RG for long rides and the XR1200 for acting up a bit.
Very cool bike!
