There is a reason Harleys race in their own races.......because there is no way the would ever win otherwise.
Many organizations/manufactures have done this with certain models. BMW did the same thing a few years back - Boxer Cup - still a hoot to watch even though their bikes couldn't beat much of anything else. The best part about it (when everyone is riding the same bike) is that it's less about the bike and more about the rider...
So what? the same could be said about riding lawnmower races, but lots of people have fun racing and watching them, lighten up a bit.
Yeah, but we are not comparing racing lawn mowers against motorcycles. The talk is about motorcycle performance. The XR simply falls short compared to the competetion.

As mentioned - BoxerCup was the same thing
So what exactly do you think 'the competition' is?
Honestly, and I just went over this in the other thread about these things, they're cool and all, and yes, I realize they race them...but what you'd buy in a showroom ain't got jack **** on those bikes in that vid or that one in the pic up there. The instant they get ahold of those bikes they're torn down to nothing and built up with parts that most street riders usually can't afford and really don't need in the first place.
Like I said...they're cool and all...but there's no way in HELL you'd run with those bikes on a stock XR1200.
And your point is? I'm sorry, your argument has no merit. This web site and forum is full of people asking for, and showing off their "torn down" bikes. And yes, people spend $$$ to do it to. Lots of $$$ on stock bikes, taken home, torn down, and rebuild to their likings. Why would the XR1200 crowd be any different if that's what they wanted to do.
