In the original post. The wires going to the speedo are under stress from being so tight and turned that way.Either a wire or the speedo will fail from vibration. You need a little slack in them to absorb vibration.
Ok. I've completed the relocation but was changing my handle bar at the same time. I somehow managed to lose a screw holding the brake housing and it fell somewhere in the engine/rear brake area. It must be stuck coz I don't hear a rattle anywhere if I move the bike. I've tried everything to find where it's lodged...only thing left to do is lift the bike upside down and shake it out!
Until I develop the superpower skills to do that, what do I do?
Do I just buy another screw and fit it in, hoping that it will just drop out someday? Or could I be causing more damage?
Help!
Hey Seven...since you've done it recently ..how did u solve the speedo relocation? what size of allen key did u use? and where did u find it?
has anyone used the Auto Meter Part # ATM-3209 with a 4.5 gal tank? does the wider tank obstruct the view of the speedo? does it even fit on there with the wider taNK?
just move it around, theres no exact way to put your speedo, put it where you feel you need to see the speed. its gonna make the custom look alot better. cause i dont know about you, but the pullback risers dont look good with apes, you should deff do the relocation, wasnt hard.
relocated mine today, followed the instructions. took a couple hours, mainly to paint my new bar clamp, and drilling holes with dull drill bits I used a bracket to extend it out a bit so I can see the whole speedometer. Just used the double sided tape trick for the dummy lights, seemed like the easiest at the time, and looks pretty good.
