Default changing engine oil

Hey guys. My bike has a little over 1000 miles on it, so I need to give the bike an oil change. I know I need 3 quarts of oil, and oil filter, and I have read a couple walk throughs on changing the oil. My question is when do you need to change the tranny oil? I don't have a service manual yet as the dealer is currently out of them. Any info appreciated.

The 1000 mile service is more then just an oil change. You need to either take it to a dealer and have it done, or wait for the manual. There's a bunch of stuff that need to be done.

I change the tranny oil at the same time as the engine, every 5000 after break in

I highly suggest the dealer for the 1,000 mile service. It's the final manufacturing check. There is really a lot that is involved. After that, get the service manual, and do your own maintenance. The tranny fluid should be changed at the 1,000 mile service. Then at 5,000 miles and every 10,000 miles after that (on 2006 and newer models). Of course you aren't gonna hurt anything by doing it more frequently, but it's not necessary.
