Default Turn signals dont work..

Here's my issue.. I got a 98 XL1200C for christmas.. the pervous owner pulled the mirrors off and front turn signals.. and put some drag bars on it.. it looks nice and I love the bike but it worries me that the turn signals dont work due to the front ones not being on there.. the turn on but they dont blink..

any suggestions..

also.. does anyone know if it will pass inspection like this in the state of Texas.

They are not blinking due to the front signals not being plugged in, which does not complete the circuit. It's much like having a burned out bulb in your car.....The signal lights up without blinking & your dashboard light is on steady instead of blinking. Just grab a set/style you like & slap'em on the triple three pinch bolt with a relocation kit mount. You didn't specify if the original owner cut the wires or even gave you the original parts to throw back on. There's a couple threads going around on here about the relocation mounts.

He cut them.. but he was nice enough to put the crimp connectors on the loose wires.. I dont have the old lights but he might.. I can call him and ask.. if he doesnt.. I was thinking about getting the mirrors with the light built in..

anyone have an opinion on those? likes dislikes.

Well, atleast you can pull the old wire connection plugs out, pop the old cut wires out of the connectors, and insert the new wires from the new signals. I almost bought the mirror signals, but decided against it as I liked the look of only my one mirror right now & went with mini signals.

HD turn signal modules require two bulbs worth of current per side, or they stay on
solid. It's a safety feature. The same thing happens when someone puts LED bulbs in
since they draw very little current.

Two ways to fix this. 1) Get some front signals and hook them up. 2) Buy a "load
equalizer" and plug it in according to the directions. It's basically a load resistor to draw
extra current and make the TSM think you have two bulbs.

It will pass inspection in The State of Texas. All you need is the head light, brake/tail light and a horn.

Section TRC §547.801.

what ever style you decide on, stay away from using butt connectors, solder and heat shrink them.

oh ya, nice x-mas present...enjoy and be safe !
