Drained them today and was suprised how bad the oil looked, glad I changed it. Next time I'll have some allen head drain screws instead of the Philips it comes with

 

Yeah, at 17,000 miles it's gonna be pretty dirty. Those drain screws are pretty much a one time use only.

I just get a new set of phillips screws anytime I am going to take them out. They are very soft metal. Best way to get them out is to just grab em with a pair of channel lock pliers and then pitch them.

 

That's normal.......
You're supposed to replace the fork oil each 10 K miles...

 

The service manual says 20K by the looks of it 10K is better
