Default Frozen throttle on the Sportster??

I took some time off from work for Christmas, so naturallly when I get back I am buried in work. I was kinda stressing so I decided to go for a ride and clear my head, the temp is around 30. I warmed the bike up and headed off, as I was going through town around 20 mph everything was fine. When I got to the highway and I twisted the throttle it gave about a 1/4 inch and stopped, I couldn't throttle up past 35-40 mph. I've owned other bikes and ridden in the cold, even colder than this, but I have never experienced this. Is it possible for the throttle to freeze part of the way? If so, is there some way to prevent it?

Did you check and make sure that the throttle friction screw was backed off all the way and hadn't somehow gotten tightened?

Very doubtful that the throttle froze. Sounds like a mechanical malfunction.

I'd check the friction screw first.

Check the throttle linkage to make sure it's not binding.
