Default Foward control woes

Bought HD's forward control kit for my 00 XL1200S, was sure I'd have to order it but there was one in stock. Then bought a Harbor Freight lift, was on sale & got it for $77 which ain't bad at all. So I got the bike up and tore into the kit installation. The motor brackets went in place AOK. On assembling the shifter side I found the kit is missing 2 bolts. hmm, I'd wouldn't of expected this out of HD. I'd be out there now checking the rest of the kit if my back could take the bending, getting up & down. I guess this note is just a little rant. For the money these kits should be complete. Oh well. Anyone else missing pieces in their kits?

My forward control kit was complete. It can happen with anything.

I had to reuse a couple of bolts when I put the forward controls on my 1200R. I don't remember which ones. I remember thinking the same thing.

not the end of the world, **** happens, i buy all kinds of stuff that ends up missing hardware, just go back to the dealer and tell them, i'm sure they'll hook ya up with a couple bolts.

enjoy the forwards, i love mine....i learned on a bike with mids and now that i have forwards i love the feeling of sitting in a lazy-boy while cruising.

I know I will once it's done. It's actually supposed to be warm tomorrow, I was hoping to try it all out on the rode but I doubt I'll have it completed. But this is what winter is for. Would be way worse to being doing all this during riding weather. Come on spring!!!!

What two bolts are you missing? From what I remember of that kit, you have to reuse a few of the stock bolts.

Let me know if you would like to sell your mid control extra parts. I have an 03 883 Custom that comes from the factory with forwards and I need to put mids on it. Can't get anything older then 04 mids off ebay. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks

I'm missing the 2 bolts that connect the rod shifter to the shift lever pedal and shift lever (tranny). They're like 5/16"-20 thread. Nothing like that came off the bike. I did reuse a few pieces.
The bike is 2000 XLH1200s, will parts from that work for you? Lemme get the bike running then I'll sell.

Mine's an '00 XLH that I converted over to forwards, and I too remember using parts that came off the bike's mid controls...I think two of the bolts. Oh, and yes, your (lockingnut's) parts should work on Surfacewarhare's scoot.
